Key coding / immobilizer
Basic way an immobilizer works is if it is not disarmed the ignition, fuel or starter is taken out of the system (typically).
If it is a factory fit immobilizer it is a lot harder to bypass as most of the immobilization is part of the ECU and the code is always the same as the transponder is in the key and the receiver around the barrel, most are receptacles but still in order to bypass it takes quite a bit of work, a typical way and immobilizer works is when your open your door it begins to search for the right code which will be on or in your car key when it is in ignition it reads it and closes all open circuits it has created.
